Follow Up Post / Tengen & 3 San Sans

I got some interesting feedback to the game in the previous post.

@iGoPau from the iGoPau Go Club in France ( https://www.facebook.com/iGo.Pau)  was so kind to write some comments in the SGF file. The new comments from @iGoPau are always beginning with "hq:"
@LevelOneDev was sharing a wonderfull youtube video lesson of @GoDwyrin "Bat" about this tengen+san san fuseki.

Thank`s a lot to both of you for this very usefull feedback!

What about english Go-Tv Channel!?

Imagine there would be regular Go-programms on (english) TV!? Found this on youtube and found it quite amusing to hear with what they come up to fill the time. They did not have the opportunity to do analysis on a extra board like in Korean and Japan tv and soo they do a lot of "small talk".

NO FIXED PLANS

"A good traveler has no fixed plans
and is not intent upon arriving.
A good artist lets his intuition
lead him wherever it wants.
A good scientist has freed himself of concepts
and keeps his mind open to what is.

Thus the Master is available to all people
and doesn't reject anyone.
He is ready to use all situations
and doesn't waste anything.
This is called embodying the light."

Fighting Spirit Is Important In Go!

Maybe following quotes can give us some insight ... FIGHTING - SPIRIT - INSIGHT ;-)

Enjoy!

•••

“Perceive that which cannot be seen with the eye.”

Miyamoto Musashi

•••

“Study strategy over the years and achieve the spirit of the warrior. Today is victory over yourself of yesterday; tomorrow is your victory over lesser men.”

Miyamoto Musashi

•••

“You win battles by knowing the enemy's timing, and using a timing which the enemy does not expect.”

Miyamoto Musashi

•••

"The weekest things in the world can overmatch the stongest things in the world.

Nothing in the world can be compared to water for its weak and yielding nature; yet in attacking the hard and the strong nothing proves better than it. For there is no alternative to it.

The weak can overcome the strong and the yielding can overcome the hard.

This all the world knows but does not practice."

Tao Te Ching, Lao Tzu

•••

"Empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless, like water. Now put water into a cup, it becomes a cup. You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put water into a teapot, it becomes a teapot. Now water can flow, or it can crash. Be water my friend."

Bruce Lee

•••

"Go is a game of chance where the strong player is he who renders circumstances favorable with tricks."

Audouard, Pierre

•••

"He who chases around after many rabbits ends hungry."

Okinawan Proverb

"The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of
thinking we were at when we created them."

Albert Einstein

The Ridiculous Game

Do you know these moments:

... when you think you can just play go without any worries about bringing your groups to life

... when you are very sure that YOU will win the game and that everything is possible on the board

... when you are sure that you will very soon perform some kind of magic ...

(Quote: "Everything would seem to be possible in go. Like pulling a rabbit, by a magical move, out of a hat. "
Audouard, Pierre )

a few moves later you realize ... how messed up the situation is ... suddenly: death agony ... you fight a bit more ... even with moves which are worse than the ones that brought you into this situation ...

... time to resign ...

and ... again – time to think about your attitude towards the game.

I call this game "The Ridiculous Game " because i think i was playing a lot of unnecessary ridiculous moves.

(It was NOT a blitz game! )

Enjoy :-)

(+ few ridiculous comments!)

The Fluky Shinogi Game

I was playing this game a few days ago on IGS as black.

You will find some comments and variations when you browse through  the game.

But beware i am only a beginner (~11 Kyu).  No warranty that there is at least one true word in my commentary! ;-)

fluky, flukey [ˈfluːkɪ]
adj flukier, flukiest Informal
1. done or gained by an accident, esp a lucky one
2. variable; uncertain fluky weather
flukiness n (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/fluky)

Shinogi,

a Japanese go term adopted into English, is the technique of making a living group inside the opponent's sphere of influence. (SL)

"The stone in the bowl is idiotic."
Audouard, Pierre

Easter Tsumego

White to play and win the capturing race.

•••

"To do or not to do something is not determined by what is done in general, any more than by what is necessary. Doing or not doing something is determined by what you want, and to want in go is to want to win."

Audouard, Pierre

Remember...

... it takes two eyes to become immortal !  ;-)

"Whenever you advise a ruler in the way of Tao,
Counsel him not to use force to conquer the universe.
For this would only cause resistance.
Thorn bushes spring up wherever the army has passed.
Lean years follow in the wake of a great war.
Just do what needs to be done.
Never take advantage of power.
Achieve results,
But never glory in them.
Achieve results,
But never boast.
Achieve results,
But never be proud.
Achieve results,
Because this is the natural way.
Achieve results,
But not through violence.

Force is followed by loss of strength.
This is not the way of Tao.
That which goes against the Tao comes to an early end."
